Why do people mock LARP?
I am a reagular participant in LARP (Live Action Role-Play) and I have a hard time figuring out why so many people mock it when they enjoy films like Lord of the Rings, The Matrix and Harry Potter.
Surely it is just another form of escapism not much different to readsing books or watching TV or playing computer games. At least it is a healthy and active pastime.
people often make fun of what they don’t understand. Kids play make belief all the time but people expect this make belief to fade away from they grow up. Unfortunately make belief is healthy to have and people don’t seem to understand that.
Larp is no different from paintballing, football or any of the other hobbies. Most people who make fun of Larp has no idea what actually goes on in it and that’s why they make fun of it.
Over the years, there’s just too many LARP related things that causes people to laugh. Youtube is to blame for alot of the hate on LARP
