Most indigenous households have access to some yards – saris too good to throw away old things of sentimental value and not go too well with today's homes contemporary designed decoration principles in mind. Well, all this can be put to good use at the time of Diwali, a time to revive the traditions and ideals of the former – and also without spending a lot of time or money!

· You brass and copper can use existing "Handis' (miniature boilers) that are brightly polished as a corner decoration in your bedroom, living room, on the basis a ladder or even in the Pooja room. Simply fill these with water, at the launch of flower petals and floating a tea-light/diya in the center of each pot at sunset: a great alternative to artificial light gives a glow to your home and guests love it too! Sprinkle with a little silver / gold dust available in vials in the market jazz floating over the flowers, if you like the background a piece of brocade sari in the wall or made into a window screen for greater ethnic charm.
· Ring in the happy Diwali with bells! Both conventional and modernist bells (some diya diya and multi-layers are also come equipped with bells now) can be used at different heights to give an interesting effect – or even announce the presence of a visitor when hung in the hallways and entrances. Wind chimes with the bells are a popular alternative that gives the soft music too.
· Visit the numerous Diwali melas, local NGOs and charities to party sales and special products that you can pick up at a fraction of market cost (the colored lights, and floating scented candles, tapestries, paper lanterns, decorated plates to serve snacks, etc.) Using economic polls can decorate yourself: simple techniques include a thick rope dyed any color you want, the application of some adhesive and packaging that around the clay pot until it is completely covered. Combine multiple sizes with ambient light (DIM / bulbs two-tone) and set against a traditional painting or carpet of bright colors / stand looks, to earth!
